Whenever I would go into the honky-tonks and they put on Run-DMC or Sir Mix-A-Lot, the floor would be packed with the cowboy hats swaying and people having a good time dancing. Shawn Mullins lives in Atlanta, he writes the songs that you might have heard in your friend's car. He is supported by Vanguard Records, a record label that has based it's foundation on the roots of Americana music. Shawn Mullins was serving a member of the U.S. Army Airborne Infantry division when he released his first self-titled cassette on his own SM label in 1989. Soul's Core, his first album for major label Columbia scored a Top 10 hit with the single "Lullaby." In addition to spawning another hit single, "Shimmer," the album eventually went platinum, paving the way for an anthology of his early work in 1999's The First Ten Years.
